Privacy Policy

GI Charger ("we", "us") operates the GI Charger mobile app, the website gicharger.com, and the EV charging services connected to them (together, the "Service"). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Phone number — used to create your account and to send the one-time password (OTP) that signs you in.
• Profile details — your name, email address, and address, which you provide when completing your profile.
• Location — with your permission, the app reads your device location to show charging stations near you. We use your location while you use the app; we do not build a history of your movements.
• Camera — with your permission, the app uses your camera to scan charger QR codes. Scanning happens on your device; we do not store photos or video.
• Wallet and payment information — when you top up your wallet through eSewa or Khalti, the payment is processed by those providers on their own systems. We never see or store your eSewa/Khalti credentials, card numbers, or PINs. We keep a record of each transaction (amount, time, reference ID, and status) for your statement and for legal bookkeeping.
• Charging session data — the station, charger, start/end time, energy delivered (kWh), and cost of each session.
• Device and log data — basic technical information such as device type, operating system, app version, and error logs, used to keep the Service reliable and secure.

2. How we use your information

• To create and operate your account and sign you in with OTP.
• To show nearby stations, start and stop charging sessions, and bill them to your wallet.
• To process wallet top-ups and maintain an accurate transaction ledger.
• To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
• To send service messages (OTP codes, payment receipts, session updates). We do not send marketing messages without your consent.
• To detect fraud and keep the Service secure.
• To meet legal obligations under the laws of Nepal, including tax and financial record-keeping.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

• Payment providers (eSewa, Khalti) — to process the payments you initiate.
• SMS provider — to deliver OTP codes to your phone number.
• Station partners — the operator of a station you charge at can see the session details needed to run their business (session time, energy, amount). They do not receive your phone number or contact details.
• Authorities — if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users.

4. Data retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. Transaction and charging records are kept for the period required by Nepali tax and financial laws, even after account deletion. Logs are kept for a short period and then deleted or anonymized.

5. Security

Your data is stored on secured servers, transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and access inside our team is limited to people who need it to operate the Service. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information with industry-standard measures.

6. Your rights and choices

• Access and correction — you can view and edit your profile in the app at any time.
• Location and camera permissions — you can withdraw these at any time in your device settings; the related features will stop working but the rest of the app remains usable.
• Deletion — you can delete your account as described on our account deletion page. Deletion is permanent.

7. Children

The Service is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes we will notify you in the app.
